EPR stands for "Extended Producer's Responsibility." For E-waste management, an EPR Certificate is required for Indian manufacturers and importers of products. With EPR India approval, the maker / importer of electronic and electrical products is responsible for controlling E-waste generated by the products after their lifetime has expired.
Electronic waste or E-WASTE is a term for electronic products that have become non-functional, undesired, or unusable and have essentially reached the end of their useful life. E-WASTE MANAGEMENT AND HANDLING RULES

The E-waste (Management) Rules, 2016 were issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in response to the E-waste generated in India by various producers of these wastes such as manufacturers, producers, consumers, bulk consumers, collection centers, dealers, e-retailers, refurbishes, dismantlers, and recyclers involved in the manufacture, sale, transfer, purchase, collection, storage, and processing of e-waste or electrical and electronic equipment listed in SECTION 2 of the Electric Equipment. According to these guidelines, any manufacturer of electrical or electronic equipment is responsible for channeling e-waste and ensuring environmentally appropriate waste treatment.
